The set up is fairly easy although I found the manual to be lacking in more detail, especially concerning a better explanation of some of the features.
The HD picture is just AWESOME and BEAUTIFUL. I did increase the “Sharpness” from 70 to about 90, but otherwise, left it on ‘AUTO’. I thought the screen might be a little too big for my computer but I was totally wrong….it is just great! I do not have a HDMI connector for the PC, only the RGB, but it is still just outstanding. Hook-up was a matter of just connecting the plugs.
The sound is better than good, but not great. I like it and it does seem to have some legitimate “surround sound” quality.
I was going to give it 4 stars because the non-HD channels are just good, and acceptable; but, the more I look at it, I realize it is actually pretty good. So, it warrants 5 stars.
I have seen a number of HDTVs, especially in showrooms, and this one seems to be better than those. It truly has an amazing picture with HD and I am very pleased with the purchase.
UPDATE 07/09/2011: After tinkering with the set for a month or so, I have been able to improve the sound considerably…..and it was pretty good to start with. A few tips: Under “Menu”, then “Audio:, make sure the Clear Voice II:ON 3 is turned on. I use “MUSIC” mode also, with treble of 82 and Bass of 70. These changes give me a really nice sound.
With the picture, it has improved also although it was astonishing before. I went to “ADVANCED” and you can mess with the categories to fine what suits you. I would make the sure the “Dynamic Color” is on “HIGH”. Enjoy!!!

These are my first impressions after a couple of days.
We are totally satisfied and wowed. First of all the angle of view is just as good as plasma. There is absolutely no degradation of the picture from even extreme side angels. The setup was easy and LG’s onboard program for adjusting the picture to our preferences was easy.
We haven’t even watched 3d source content, but are totally blown away the the up conversion from 2D to 3D. We have watched TV HD sources for the “Oceans” series (lots of underwater shots) and Blu-ray DVDs for arial tours of Italy. Both were amazing. The underwater shots looked liked we were actually looking through the window of a submarine, and the arial shots like we were actually looking through a window of a helicopter. Our hats are off to the LG software developers!
The effect is like looking through a window, however, as all the depth of field is created from the screen to the distance. Nothing jumps out at you into the room, but the effect is very realistic for depth of field.
I have followed the active vs. passive 3D debate and I’m very fussy about my HD viewing. That being said, the 3D viewing is a very slight downgrade, maybe 10%, but the 3D effect more than makes up for it when watching the right programs. No problems with headaches. You can look around the room with the lightweight glasses on and nothing appears any different. 2D viewing is most excellent with no motion blur.
We are more than satisfied with the TV. The price on Amazon was the best we could find and the free delivery two days after ordering was a bonus. This is a large TV and you do not want to lug the box home in you car.

I was recently in the market for a basic 40″-ish LCD TV for my bedroom and just happened to stumble upon this gem of a set. I did not require internet connectivity, smart functions, Hulu, Netflix, True-motion processing, 3D, automatic espresso’s, or a shiatsu back massage. All I required was a nice screen so that I could watch direct tv and blu-rays with my fiancee. So when I recently received a kindle special offer for $100 off on HDTV’s sold by Amazon, I decided that it was meant to be.
I ended up purchasing this set for $397.00 shipped to my door (On 09/12/11). Simply a mind blowing price for a full 1080p 42″ lcd screen. I am pleased to say this set has already past my expectations for a product at this price point. The TV took me less than 10 minutes to get set up (by myself), and the picture is just incredible. I have a 2010 Samsung 46″ LED LCD TV in my den that I paid $1400 for last year. This set looks just as good, and its very hard to see the size difference between the two screens. I almost feel like I’m watching the same TV, but for $1000 less.
The sound is a bit lacking (as noted in other reviews), and the inclusion of only an optical out for audio is puzzling since most people looking for a low end tv still use analog audio. Luckily my bedroom stereo has an optical input.

Conclusion:
This TV is a fantastic purchase if you’re looking for a bare bones 40″-42″ LCD TV. You’ll be hard pressed to find better than the LG 42LK450.

I already have a 50″ plasma in the living room, so I jumped at the chance to see what an LCD screen had to offer. I set it up in my bedroom, upgraded to an HD box and turned it on.
The image is gorgeous! Crystal clear and bright. The colors, at times, appear a bit more saturated than those on the plasma, but that’s neither a pro nor a con, as both sets have their shining moments. In particular, the LCD does extremely well with graphics that include vectors and sharp lines.
I love that, unlike the plasma, the lamp in my room casts no reflection on the screen. That’s been a downside to the plasma, but with the LCD, it’s a non-issue. In addition, it shows better in bright daylight than the plasma.
The only downside — if you can call it that — is that I haven’t been able to figure out the remote code to configure my Comcast/Xfinity remote to control the TV’s power and volume.
The 32″ size is perfect for my bedroom, and has given me an awesome viewing experience from my very own bed. As with my plasma, I purchased an HDMI cable to achieve the absolute best performance. They’re expensive, but worth it.
Included in the packaging are the TV, easy-to-assemble stand, four screws, remote and an instruction sheet.

Excellent piece of kit Torque Wrench Inch Pounds . Though it won’t get used often I felt it was about time that I invested in a torque wrench as I intend to strip down my trucks suspension. As I have for the last 20 odd years I would normally tighten any nuts or bolts up ‘FT’ but after seeing the price of this decided to do it the correct way and torque them. Anyway the delivery was super speedy taking less then 3 days.
Torque Wrench Inch Pounds was packaged up in glad wrap which was undamaged and the wrench itself is inside a blown plastic storage case which looks solid enough to me. Although this is more of a precision tool then say a hammer or screw driver it looks pretty sturdy and appears to be good quality. I haven’t heard of Mountain before and have used mainly Snap-On, Britool, King Dick etc tools before so was intrigued by the other reviews. The chrome plating looks like a quality job and is of even colour and texture with no obvious problems. The graduations are engraved rather then laser etched which should give them a longer life and the ratchet has a positive tight ‘click’ to it. The knurled lock nut on the end is made from the same metal as impact driver sockets and screws in and out freely, though it isn’t secured to the ratchet on a rod like other wrenches I have used, and will fall off if unscrewed too far (n.b. if you drop it there is a spring washer underneath) Torque Wrench Inch Pounds
